Anyone who is a caregiver knows how physically, psychologically and emotionally draining caregiving can be. We strongly recommend you get help. Our most common sense tips are:

Arrange with family and close friends schedules to give YOU the primary caregiver, a break.

Learn about the Disease and its progressions.

Connect with the Alzheimer?s Association.

Learn about technilogical gadgets which can make things easier.

Get counseling if you are overwhelmed.

Share the responsibility the best you can.

Join a Caregiver Support Group and go, if not regularly, when you feel the need for extra support.

Meet with your Financial Planner and Elder Care Attorney to put the ?paperwork? in order to creat a plan which protects your assets and makes arrangements for longer term care.

Visit Day Care Centers and enroll your elderly loved one. If they resist, revisit every few months.

Read the ?36 Hour Day? and/or ?Passages in Caregiving?.

Plan on going to family events ? graduations, weddings and the like ? either with or without the person you are caring for. One parent at least should be there in the photos.

Hire help. There are many Home Care Companies. Interview a couple. If you don?t use them now, you?ll be connected should an emergency occur.

Keep your medical appointments, card or golf game.

Take Care of Yourself so You Can Keep Caring For Your Loved One.
