Former Darksiders team at work on Ryse: Son of Rome, plus new "things"

The artist formerly known as Vigil has been assisting Crytek's Ryse: Son of Rome team following its life-saving acquisition, Crytek USA producer Mike Read has told Siliconera.

That's in addition to certain new "things", which may or may not include the mysterious Crawler project, revealed during former Vigil owner THQ's bankruptcy proceedings. The latter's ownership status is unknown, and we've yet to lay eyes on prototype footage or screenshots, but lead combat designer Ben Cureton paints a vivid picture.

"We did, in TWO months, what many companies haven't done in a year," he wrote in January. "The pride of knowing that no one was doing anything like us was so satisfying, it kept us coming to work and giving 100% every single day, even through the dark times."

As for the Darksiders IP, new owner Nordic Games is confident that the franchise has a bright future. "I'm sure we can find a solution for at least one of the IPs, or a few of the IPs, this year," CEO Lars Wingefors said of Nordic's various THQ acquisitions (which include Volition's Red Faction series) in April. "Potentially this summer. There will be a lot of discussions at E3, but it's hard to say. I'm very open minded and flexible. I trust a handshake. I just need to find the right people."

An obvious approach would be to sign up Crytek USA (which currently comprises 30 staff) to work on Darksiders 3. How about it, Nordic?
