A Memphis civil rights leader said he will hold his own rally whenever the KKK gathers to protest new park names.
The KKK first claimed it would hold its own "largest rally ever" following the Memphis City Council's decision this week to rename Forrest, Confederate, and Jefferson Davis Parks. Read that story with video here.
Local Klan leaders said the rally will likely take place in May or June.
Whenever it takes place, SCLC President Dwight Montgomery plans to hold a simultaneous event focused on peace.
"The Bible says 'a perfect love casts out fear.' So I don't fear the KKK, but I believe we need to be about peace and brotherhood. That's what the founder of SCLC would want to do and certainly what I want to do," said Dwight.
Montgomery said the SCLC's rally will take place at a separate location in order to avoid any confrontation with the Klan.
