Position Title: Green Lake County Interim 4-H Youth Development Educator (100 %)

Office Location: Green Lake County Extension Office, 571 County Road A, PO Box 3188, Green Lake, WI 54941

Geographic Areas Served: Primarily Green Lake County, occasionally extending beyond county boundaries for specific commitments and team programming.

Type of Appointment:
This interim position is a short-term academic staff appointment in the University of Wisconsin-Extensions division of Cooperative Extension and is subject to UW System, UW-Extension, and Cooperative Extension personnel policies.

This appointment will begin as soon as possible and continue for six twelve months. This appointment may be extended depending on performance and the need for a continued interim appointment.

This interim position will exist until sufficient funding for filling the position on a long-term basis is available. After the availability of sufficient funding levels is verified, the intention is to fill the vacancy as a faculty position through Cooperative Extensions standard faculty hiring process, including a public recruitment period. A Masters degree with at least one degree in a field related to the position will be required for the faculty position.

Purpose and Primary Focus of Position:
The Interim 4-H Youth Development Educator provides educational support for the 4-H Community Club program, and plans, implements, teaches, and evaluates culturally relevant educational programs to meet identified needs and interests of county individuals, businesses, organizations and communities.

Primary Duties/Essential Job Duties:
- Plan, teach and deliver 4-H Youth Development community-based educational programs through a wide variety of teaching methods at sites throughout the geographic area served
- Prepare educational materials and reports using appropriate technology
- Write and distribute relevant informational articles and newsletters
- Partner with existing volunteer leadership in order to carry out the positions plan of work
- Provide professional guidance and counsel to program-related groups and organizations
- Cooperate with other Extension personnel to offer integrated Extension programs
- Participate in regional and/or state program activities as appropriate and needed
- Use an appropriate system for reporting and evaluating programs to the Green Lake County Agriculture, Extension Education and Fair Committee, the University of Wisconsin-Extension and to clients, colleagues and other Extension collaborators as needed
- Cooperate with others in the local office to ensure reasonable access to Extension expertise during regular office hours
Primary Duties/Essential Job Functions (continued):
- Build and maintain trust-based relationships in support of cooperative and respectful work environments
- Be responsive to evolving position and organizational needs; perform additional duties, as needed
- Make all reasonable effort to reach a diverse audience and to ensure equitable access to programs and facilities

Working Conditions:
- Make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position duties and essential job functions
- Assume weekly travel throughout Green Lake County and occasional travel within the state
- Work evenings on a regular basis and occasionally on weekends, as needed to meet local needs

Administrative Relationships:
This position is accountable to Green Lake County through the Agriculture, Extension Education and Fair Committee, State Program Director for 4-H Youth Development, and to UW-Extension through the Central Region Director on all matters related to (a) program performance and job responsibilities, (b) developing effective external working relationships with clientele groups, other agencies. departments and organizations, (c) continuing professional development and (d) reporting and evaluating programs to county, state and federal government as appropriate. This position is accountable to the Green Lake County Department Head on matters related to county administration, office management and performance development.

Qualifications:
To be considered eligible for this interim position, you must meet all of the following minimum qualifications:
- Bachelors degree with content expertise in a field that relates to the responsibilities of this position such as youth development, human behavior, education, Extension education, recreation or other behavioral science field
- Ability to plan, teach and deliver educational programs
- Successful experience in working with volunteers
- Knowledge and skills to effectively interact with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity

Additional knowledge, skills and abilities desired:
- Successful professional experience in related fields such as educational principles, curriculum development, program evaluation and/or the cognitive and social development of youth and adults; volunteer development and management
- Masters degree in a field that relates to the responsibilities of this position such as youth development, human behavior, education, Extension education, recreation or other behavioral science field (a related Masters degree aids in fulfilling the minimum qualification for a related Bachelors degree and content knowledge in a related field)
- Demonstrated success planning, implementing and evaluating learning experiences for youth and/or adults in community-based, non-formal educational settings that reach, and are accessible to, a wide range of audiences
- Successful experience in outreach or adult education
- Strong group and educational facilitation skills
- Knowledge of adult learning principles
- Skillful in establishing and maintaining professional work relationships and networks
- Successful experiences in volunteer development and management
- Volunteer or paid experience working with people from culturally diverse groups
- Ability to communicate ideas effectively orally, in writing and through educational technology
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills in a team setting; ability to effectively manage conflicts
- Skillful in the use of educational software and current instructional technologies
- Demonstrated understanding of Extensions mission
